View Interpolation inserts intermediate points between data
points using x2 / x4 / x8 /
x16.
Interpolation is performed by
calculating linear speed from the distance and speed between
points A and B. Interpolation does not improve the accuracy of the
data, but it increases the displayed data granularity and allows
movement to be viewed in finer detail.
Map Edit also has
an interpolation feature, but that feature fills points at equal
distances.
Interpolated data is distinguished from actual
data. You can turn interpolation OFF or change the interpolation
ratio without reloading the GPX data.
You can save the
data currently displayed with interpolation to a GPX file. After
saving, there is no distinction between interpolated data and
actual data. When the saved file is opened later, all points are
treated as actual data.
Using Interpolation
Interpolation uses time and speed. Because it requires data validity, it is not suitable for manually edited data. Data actually recorded by GPS is recommended. The minimum time unit is 1 ms, so use an appropriate interpolation ratio for data that has a suitable time interval.
